The purpose of the National Honors Society is to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, and to develop character in the students of secondary schools. We strive to encourage students to do well academically but also to recognize the importance of volunteerism and leadership within our community.
Hey members of NHS!
Its coming down to the end of the year, so here's an update on what's going on, plus some more NHS project opportunities.
First, if you know anybody who isn't getting emails please tell them to contact us ([email protected]) so we can get them on the list. We also have a Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/glencoenationalhonorssociety/) so make sure you and your NHS buddies are in the loop somehow.
Second, its time to vote for next year's officers. If you would like to vote, see Ms. Stremme in her office. The last day to vote is Friday,
We have two more NHS projects available: re-landscaping Glencoe's courtyard and cleaning up Hornecker Road. Please contact us if you're interested in either for details.
Also, the school is in need of peer tutors for math (algebra 1 level) next year. Please contact Mrs. Stremme if you're interested.
SENIORS: Please make sure you've met all requirements so you can receive your chord for graduation. You can see what the requirements are and check if you've met them on our website. Points sheets should be updated through yesterday by next week the latest. THE LAST DAY TO TURN IN ANYTHING (hours, dues, etc.) IS TUESDAY OF NEXT WEEK! Get your feces together this weekend if you have to, we want you guys to get your chord!
JUNIORS: Please make sure you've met all requirements if you'd like to be an NHS member next year. You can see what the requirements are and check if you've met them on our website. Points sheets should be updated through yesterday by next week the latest. Also, the summer is a great time to get volunteer hours done with so you don't have to worry about them during the school year.
NEW INDUCTEES: Get familiar with the requirements on the website and get some volunteer hours done over the summer. Also, please get your NHS friends connected to us! It's crucial for next year that we have your email addresses!
Read this at least three times, its that important.
If you have any questions regarding anything at all, feel free to email us back or contact any of the officers.
Thanks,
Glencoe NHS
